Introducing the iX3 Long Wheelbase

BMW has officially unveiled the new iX3 Long Wheelbase, an electric SUV designed specifically for the Chinese market, ahead of its global debut at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show in April. This model, produced at BMW’s Shenyang plant, marks a pivotal step in the automotive giant’s strategy to cater to the growing demand for electric vehicles (EVs) in China. With its extended wheelbase of 3005 mm, the iX3 promises enhanced interior space, critical for the local consumer base.

Visually, the iX3 retains much of the design language of its global counterpart while incorporating unique elements tailored for China. The design features include distinctive “Digital Angel Wing” daytime running lights and a striking “3D Luminous Grille,” ensuring it stands out on the road. The model will be available in nine vibrant colors, including Mineral White and Marina Bay Blue, appealing to a diverse array of tastes.

Under the hood, the iX3 Long Wheelbase is powered by BMW’s sixth-generation eDrive technology with an innovative 800V architecture. It features a robust 108 kWh battery coupled with a front asynchronous motor and a rear excited synchronous motor, delivering a formidable 463 hp and peak torque of 645 Nm. This setup allows the SUV to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds, a performance that rivals many sportier counterparts.

It features Momenta’s navigation-assisted driving, specifically designed for local road conditions, enhancing safety and convenience. Furthermore, BMW has partnered with Alibaba and DeepSeek to integrate AI capabilities into the cockpit, providing a seamless user experience through the HarmonyOS ecosystem and Huawei HiCar support.
