The Freelander brand has officially re-emerged, marking a significant collaboration between Chery and Jaguar Land Rover (JLR). This new luxury electric vehicle (EV) brand, established as an independent entity in June 2024, is built on a framework that blends the storied heritage of Land Rover with cutting-edge technology.

The Concept97 is designed on Chery’s versatile T1X architecture, which supports various SUV configurations. This model boasts a length exceeding 5,100 mm and a wheelbase of over 3,000 mm, positioning it as a spacious mid-to-large six-seater. The design, overseen by JLR’s Chief Creative Officer Gerry McGovern, pays homage to the original Freelander with its rugged, boxy silhouette and square headlamp clusters.
